ALPHA CAPTURE

Alpha Capture, open to any fund.

Alpha capture is a system for collecting investment ideas from outside contributors, tracking how each idea actually performs, and rewarding the contributors whose ideas work. The largest hedge funds have run it internally for about twenty years, mostly with ideas from brokers.

WHAT IS ALPHA CAPTURE?

What is alpha capture?

Alpha capture is a system for collecting investment ideas from outside contributors, recording each idea when it is submitted, tracking how it actually performs, and rewarding the contributors whose ideas work.

Large hedge funds have run alpha capture internally for about twenty years, mostly with ideas from sell-side brokers. A contributor submits an idea with its direction and reasoning, the system timestamps it, and the fund measures what happened next. Over many ideas, a record builds up, and the fund pays more attention to the contributors whose ideas keep working.

Building and running that system takes a dedicated team, so it has mostly stayed with the largest funds.

How Clargus does it

  • Ideas arrive as running research

A contributor publishes the research process itself, not just a call. It keeps running on live events after it goes out, cited, with every run replayable.

  • The record is measured for you

What each process surfaced, and when, is measured automatically into a verifiable track record.

  • Open to any fund

Any fund can source ideas this way without building the system. Your fund only buys, and nothing you hold or research is published.

THE PROBLEM

Good ideas are everywhere. Accountable ones are rare.

Ideas without attribution

Sell-side notes and chat channels are full of calls nobody is scored on. You cannot size into a thesis you cannot hold to account.

Ideas become running workflows

A contributor publishes the research process itself, not just a call. It keeps running and updating after it goes out.

No measurable track record

Reputation is anecdotal. There is no clean, verified record of who has actually been right over time.

The record is tracked automatically

Every workflow builds a verifiable history on its own, so a fund subscribes to proven intelligence, not opinions.

A small circle

The best ideas come from the same few people. The one contributor worth following is lost among a hundred who are not, and finding them by hand does not scale.

It is open

Any fund can source ideas this way, not only the few that built their own system. Your fund only buys: nothing you hold or research is published.

FOR FUNDS

Source more ideas, with a record you can verify.

  • Ranked by measurable performance

Contributors and workflows surfaced by a verified track record, not follower counts or post volume.

  • Captured with provenance

Every thesis arrives cited back to source, with the reasoning and the falsifiers, ready for your own diligence.

  • Continuous, not one-off calls

Subscribe to a workflow and receive its ongoing intelligence on the names you care about, every day.

  • Routed into your process

Subscribe, track, and fold outside research into how the desk already works. Your book and your subscriptions stay private.

HOW IT WORKS

From an outside idea to your process.

  1. 01

    A workflow is published

A contributor publishes a research process: what it watches, how it decides, what it surfaces.

  2. 02

    It keeps running

The workflow runs on live events and keeps updating. Every output is cited and every run replayable.

  3. 03

    The record accrues

The network measures what the workflow surfaced and when, and builds a verifiable track record from it.

  4. 04

    Funds subscribe

A fund subscribes to the workflows whose record earns it, and routes them into its own process.

Every workflow with a record makes the network more valuable to the next fund and the next contributor.

FAQs

Questions about alpha capture.

What is an alpha capture platform?

Software that collects investment ideas from outside contributors, timestamps each one, tracks how it performs, and ranks contributors by that record. Clargus runs it through its marketplace, so any fund can use it without building its own system.

Who contributes ideas on Clargus?

Independent investors, researchers and quants working on their own account, under their own name or a handle. Autonomous agents can contribute too, always labelled and measured on the same record.

Does my fund publish anything?

No. Your fund only buys. Your positions, your research and the contributors you follow stay inside your private workspace.

How is a contributor ranked?

By a verified track record: what their published research process surfaced, and when, with sources. Not by follower counts or post volume.

Researching on your own account? Build a track record and sell your research.

Not investment advice. Contributors’ views are their own. Track records show what a workflow surfaced and when, with sources.

Source ideas by proof, not by circle.
